August ends but the fresh food keeps coming

This time of year, there isn’t much of a reason to visit the produce section of the grocery store. You can find all the seasonal fresh produce you need at the Growers’ Markets. “Local food” means that you can have a conversation with the person that grew your food; it means that it was picked when it was ripe yesterday or the same day as the Market, which means it will taste like it’s meant to; and, it means you are supporting agriculture in your community. This Wednesday’s Market had a whole bunch of local food – three different varieties of cucumbers, tomatoes, okra, chile, onions, carrots, tortillas, bread, kale, zucchini, green beans, and flowers! Use this great time of the year to embrace what “local food” really means. Sunday is another chance to participate, with live music by Los Radiators – 9AM-12PM. See you soon! WIC accepted.
